Breckenridge Ski
Rentals
Breckenridge in Colorado’s
Summit County is a world renowned Skiing resort. The place offers
great skiing conditions from October until June and, for skiing enthusiasts, this can be a trip to cherish for a lifetime. Skiing requires you to be fully prepared in terms of both ability and equipment. The sport has a rather long checklist of equipment and normally it is not possible to do without any of the items in the list. So inevitably, it is a sport that asks for a bit of investment.
Before you actually invest in personal equipment, it would seem wise then to first rent the equipment to find out whether skiing is your thing or not. Also, if the trips to ski are going to be spread far and wide in your life then buying the whole lot makes little sense. Only invest in the equipment if you are really into the sport and it will be a regular activity for you.
The main things that needed for skiing are: ski boots, boot carrier, goggles, helmet, skis, ski poles, ski Lock and sunglasses. Things like walkie talkies, a duffel bag for your gear, a ski, boot bag, and ski carrier are optional but can provide added convenience and safety for your equipment.
Apart from the equipment, proper clothing is also very important if you don't want to end up frozen and blue after a run. Clothing items will include gloves, long underwear both pants and shirt made preferably of the material that keeps moisture away from the body, turtleneck sweaters/ fleece, ski socks or fleece socks, insulated and water proof ski pants and ski jacket, neck gaiter to keep it warm, a hat or helmet liner. Keeping the items in twos would be preferable in case one pair becomes wet.
While dressing for skiing keep in mind the fact that dressing in layers would be wiser. If you get hot you can always take a layer off, but in case you find yourself cold…adding on would be a difficult task. Also the cold and chilly weather may require lip balm and some sunscreen would also be nice. Obviously, when you are just starting off as a skier you don't need to spend a fortune on the clothing buying top brands, but making sure that the clothing is waterproof is very important.
Breckenridge has a good number of skiing rental shops in various locations to make the trip to the shops easier on you as well as creating enough competition to help you get good deals. Some shops offer package deals rather than separate items. All the major brands like K2, Atomic, Solomon and Volkl are available. The latest models by the main manufacturers are also available for rent. Different shops also offer special discounts if you book early for the season and it can be from around 10 to 30 percent a day. Some also offer free equipment for kids under 5. All types of equipment from
skis,
snowboards, snow blades and demos are available. Most of the shops also offer fine tuning for equipment as well so you should be at ease while on your way down the mountain.
Renting equipment from local shops has an added advantage; most will offer free, or for nominal charges, storage of the equipment. If you choose a shop that would suit you location wise, like shops close to your accommodation or those close to lifts, you might be able to save your self a lot of hassle.
One thing that might be worth checking, if you are planning to take skiing lessons, is whether the package provides the equipment for the whole day; otherwise you will have to rent separate equipment for the rest of the day.
